Technology and AI are reshaping careers, but education and workplace systems haven’t kept pace. Many people leave school without the tools to navigate money, power, and real-world decisions—and too many are pushed out of unhealthy workplaces without the resources to leave safely.

Future Work Now® exists to close that gap—practically, ethically, and humanely.

The Skills Graduates Wish College Taught More

Many graduates leave school wishing they had learned more practical, real-world skills—especially the ones that help them navigate careers and opportunities. In a Gallup Alumni Survey of 2020 graduates, the most common regrets were networking, computer software, and organizational skills (Clark, 2020).

College doesn’t fail because students aren’t capable—it fails because key life-and-career skills are often left out.

Financial vulnerability keeps people silent

When people don’t speak up or take action, it’s often not fear or weakness—it’s risk math: one missed paycheck, lost insurance, visa uncertainty, or caregiving responsibilities can trigger a crisis (Bankrate, 2024; Gallup, 2021; Schumacher et al., 2025.

When someone stays quiet, it’s often because speaking up is expensive. A complaint can mean job loss, lost health coverage, a visa crisis, or falling behind on debt—especially for people already living paycheck to paycheck. This is why Future Work Now® treats advocacy and financial independence as inseparable: support has to be practical enough to reduce real-world risk.

Meet the Founder

Dr. Yaguang Zhu (PhD, University of Texas at Austin) founded Future Work Now to build the playbook he wishes more people had. Not theory—real steps: how to communicate professionally, negotiate, manage money, spot red flags, and build options outside a single employer’s control. His work spans teaching, startups, and applied AI, but the goal is simple: help people protect their future and create more freedom in how they live and work.
